Construction of 25.25 km Balachera- Harangjao section of NH-54 to be completed by 2023: Nitin Gadkari

June 11: The Construction of 25.25 Km Balachera- Harangjao section of NH-54 (Extension) with a total project cost of Rs. 519.3 Cr. will be completed by 2023. This was stated in his twitter handle by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road, Transport & Highways on 10 June. He further stated that this section is very crucial as it is the starting stretch of the East-West Corridor and would connect North Eastern Region with rest of the country.

“Government of India under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji is working steadfastly towards growth and prosperity of ‘AshtaLakshmi’, stated Union Minister Gadkari.

It needs mention here that Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy too has been very active and instrumental in the completion of this project and has been in constant touch with Nitin Gadkari and his Ministry. In April 2022. the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issued the Letter of Award for the balance work of Construction of 4- Lane road from Km 140+700 to Km 190+587 (Design chainage Km 0.000 to Km 49.230) on Narimbanglo – Jatinga Junction- Harangajao Section of NH-54 (New NH-27EW) in the State of Assam under Bharatmala Pariyojana on Hybrid Annuity Mode. It needs mention here that Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy wrote to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways seeking his intervention into the completion of this project.

Expressing his views, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy said, “I have received a letter from Nitin Gadkari ji today in response to my letter dt 21.12.2021 letting me know that the LoA has been issued on 10.3.2022 for construction of 4-lane between Harangajao to Narimbunglo via Jatinga ( 50 km approx ) under NHAI at an estimated cost of 1674 crore. This is a major forward development for the completion of the last remaining part of the MAHASADAK (4-lane Expressway) connecting Silchar to Guwahati. I wholeheartedly thank Nitin ji for his visionary leadership in developing infrastructure in this land-locked Barak Valley.”
