21 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Friday, 1 death at SMCH

Sept 3: There has been a sudden spike in the number of positive cases in Cachar. A total of 21 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Friday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 4,158 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 17 persons were found positive, whereas 04 more persons were detected Covid positive in RT-PCR test. It needs mention here that 16 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Thursday.

The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 2 September to 5 PM on 3 September) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as:

  • Motilal Goswami (79) from Sarat Pally, near Sonai Road in Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 30 August, 2021. He, however, breathed his last at 5.40 PM on 2 September, 2021.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 3 September, there were 26 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, no patients were put under ventilator support and 17 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 06 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 02 of them were discharged.
