Club Oasis wins Sushil-Mira Choudhury 1st Div league cum knock-out cricket championship
Feb. 2: The final match of Sushil Choudhury & Mira Choudhury Memorial League cum 1st Division Cricket Championship was played at the ground of District Sports Association (DSA), Silchar on Wednesday between Club Oasis and Eleven Star. Displaying spectacular performance, Club Oasis defeated Eleven Star and lifted the trophy.
Earlier, winning the toss, Club Oasis selected to bat first and scored a total of 225 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 30 overs. Saidul Barlaskar scored 49 runs, Binoy Krishna Saha got 45, Abhoy Deb could manage 22, Tapas Paul scored 29, Neeraj Chutia 23 (not out) and Ranadip Chakraborty scored 24 runs. A total of 21 runs were given extra by the players of Eleven Star. Javed Mazumdar secured 3 wickets, Mihir Barman 2 and Samsur Rahman Laskar could bag 1 wicket for Eleven Star.
In response to the 225 runs scored by Club Oasis, the players of Eleven Star could only manage to score only 97 runs at the loss of all wickets in 24.3 overs. Mihir Barman scored 32 runs, Javed Akhtar 12 and Makbul Choudhury got 11 runs. The rest of their batsmen failed to reach the double figures. A total of 16 runs were given extra by the players of Club Oasis. Rajesh Nath of Club Oasis bowled a brilliant spell and secured 5 wickets. Mihir Kanti Deb took 3 wickets and the rest bowlers claimed 1 wicket each.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Rajesh Nath of Club Oasis was given both the Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards. Saidul Barlaskar of the same club got the award of best batsman; whereas Javed hussain Laskar of Eleven Star was given the award of best bowler.
The Fair Play trophy was lifted by Eleven Star. Subham Deb was adjudged as the Best Umpire of the tournament. The other two umpires of this tournament were Sanjeeb Dey and Dilip Kumar Das.
Present during the prize distribution ceremony were Dr Amit Kalwar as the Chief Guest, DSA President Babul Hore, Secretary Bijendra Prasad Singh, Vice President Sujay Dutta Roy, Sports Secretary Arijit Gupta, Himadri Sekhar Das,Niranjan Das, Somnath Choudhury along with the sponsors Soumen choudhury and Soumitra Choudhury.
