Sudhanshu Dhulia appointed as new Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court

Jan. 8: Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. Following the retirement of of the previous Chief Justice Ajai Lamba, Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice since September 20, 2020. A notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on 7 January stated, “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause(1) of Article217of the Constitution of India,the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, , Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”
