CBSE results by 31 July, marks to be decided by performance based on Class X, XI & XII

June 17: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has submitted the Evaluation Criteria 2021 for result calculation to the Supreme Court on Thursday. The Class 12 result will be based on Class 10 component (30 per cent) based on best three performing subjects in the board exams, class 11 component (30 per cent) will be based on final exam and class 12 component (40 per cent) based on unit test/ mid-term/pre-board. CBSE Class 12 Result 2021 would be released by July 31 and schools are required to submit the marks by July 15.

Attorney General KK Venugopal told the apex court, “If a student is unable to meet the qualifying criteria – now spread across three years of study – they will be placed in the ‘essential repeat’ or ‘compartment’ category. Students who are not satisfied can appear again when the CBSE conducts Class 12 board exams.” Attorney General also said that students who are not satisfied with the marks/grading through the present mechanism can do better or improve their marks by appearing in physical examinations, as COVID situation gets better or as the situation normalises or as the institutions think.

The marks for the Class 12 practical exams, however, would be taken as it is. Now, for class 12, there are different subjects who have different break up of Practical and Theory marks. Students need to understand that only the theory portion marks would be calculated using Class 10 and 11 score.

Meanwhile, CBSE has allowed schools to complete the practical exams in online mode. Students who were unable to appear for the practical exams due to Covid-19 second wave will have the opportunity to take these exams from home. The schools have to conduct the pending tests and submit the marks by June 28. The external examiner will fix the date for an online viva voce in consultation with the internal examiner.
