Challenging night for Assam as 844 passengers will enter the state by 2 trains: Himanta
May 14: This will be the most challenging night for Assam (14 May night) as two trains are going to enter the state with large number of passengers. Delhi – Dibrugarh Special train will arrive on Thursday night with 219 passengers. Further, the 1st Krishak Shramik Express will also enter Assam with 625 passengers. This train has originated from Chennai and its final destination is in Mizoram.
The train has also stoppage in Badarpur, where passengers from Barak Valley will get get down. All will be sent for 14 days strict institutional quarantine facility. N.C. College, Badarpur has already been requisitioned as a quarantine centre by the district administration.
Divulging this information during a press briefing in Guwahati on Thursday night, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Tonight is one of the most challenging night as we will have to handle so many passengers arriving in the state by two trains.”
The minister further said that elderly people above 75 years of age, Dibyang, pregnant women and those accompanying children 10 years and below will be allowed to go for strict home quarantine. But before allowing them to go for home quarantine, the head of the family must give a declaration in writing that none of the family members will go out of the house as the entire house will be declared as a containment zone.
