Cachar Forest Division announces re-auction of seized bamboo lots through E-tender platform

way2barak, October 18::– In a significant move towards transparent forest resource management, the District Forest Department under Cachar Forest Division has announced the re-auction of eight seized bamboo lots through an electronic tender process, officials confirmed on Friday.

Notably, the bamboo consignments, which were confiscated during various anti-illegal logging operations, have been stored at multiple Range Headquarters, Beat offices, and designated depots across the division. These lots are now being made available for legitimate commercial purchase through a competitive bidding process.

According to Notice Inviting Tender, issued by the department, the e-auction will be conducted in strict adherence to the “Assam Sale of Forest Produces Coupes and Mahal Rule, 1977” and its subsequent amendments introduced in 2000. This regulatory framework ensures fair pricing and prevents unauthorized exploitation of forest resources.

Forest officials have emphasized that the digital auction platform will ensure complete transparency in the disposal of seized bamboo stock. Interested bidders and stakeholders can access comprehensive details of the auction, including lot specifications, base prices, and terms and conditions, through the official state forest department portal.

The e-tender documentation will be made available on the Assam Forest Online portal (www.assanforestonline.in) starting October 22, 2025. Prospective buyers are advised to register on the platform well in advance and review all tender conditions before submitting their bids.

This initiative by the Cachar Forest Division not only demonstrates the department’s commitment to combating illegal bamboo trade but also reflects the government’s broader push towards digitalization of public procurement processes.

Meanwhile, forest Department officials have also urged genuine buyers and bamboo traders to participate in the auction and contribute to sustainable forest resource management in Cachar district.

This is stated in a press release issued by Regional office of Information & Public Relations Barak valley Zone Silchar Assam .
