Cachar Congress felicitates 4 veteran leaders including Karnendu Bhattacharjee on its 137th foundation day

Dec. 28: On the occasion of its 137th Foundation Day, District Congress, Cachar felicitated 4 veteran leaders of its party including Karnendu Bhattacharjee, former MP and ex President of Silchar DCC. Being ill, a delegation of the district Congress went to his home to confer him the honour. The other 3 veterans who were felicitated in the party office are Monikanta Sinha (VP Silchar DCC), Moulana Jabbir Hussain (VP Silchar DCC ) & Radheshyam Upadhya (VP Silchar DCC and President of Barak Cha Shramik Union).

On Tuesday, the celebration in connection with its 137th Foundation Day began with the hoisting of the party flag by the party President Pradip Kr Dey in presence of former minister Ajit Singh and portfolio holders of DCC Silchar, Youth Congress, NSUI, SEVADAL, Mahila Congress and other cells and departments of the party.

Thereafter floral tributes were paid on the portrait of the freedom fighters of India and the veteran Congress leaders by APCC Secretary Sanjeev Roy, Sujan Dutta, Partha Ranjan Chakraborty, Tamal Kanti Banik, Dipak Dev, Atanu Bhattacharjee ,Sajal Acharjee, Kishore Bhattacharjee, Nilotpol Sen, Abhijit Paul, Simanto Bhattacharjee, Sahabuddin Ahmed, Bandita Trivedi Roy, Ranjit Choudhury, Rajesh Sinha, Bhaskar Das, Makhan Paul, Partha Sarathi Roy, Debodip Dutta, Abhijit Dhar, Sushanto Roy, Manna Paul ,Biswajit Malakar, Pritom Roy and others.

This was followed by a special lecture entitled, “The Indian Freedom Movement and the role and contribution of Indian National congress in building up of modern India.” The lecture was delivered by senior Congress leader Bibhas Deb. Others who also spoke on the occasion are ex-minister Ajit Singh, MLA Katigorah Khalil Uddin, Arun Dutta Majumder, Rumi Nath, Babul Hore.
