Cachar College Unit of ABVP protests against SLRM dumping ground in old BRTF campus
Jan. 21: The SLRM Project base in the old BRTF campus near Cachar College has become a major cause of concern for the students. Everyday huge amount of garbage is dumped at that spot which has become a real cause of concern for the students, teachers and staff of Cachar College, Silchar. The unhealthy odour which emanates from the garbage dumping site has made the college campus unhealthy and unhygienic. This would give rise to serious health hazards among the college fraternity. This was alleged both by the students and by the Cachar College authority.
Cachar College Unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) expressed strong resent to this fact and blocked the main road in front of the college. A similar allegation was also raised by the college authority. In a etter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, College Principal, Dr. S.S. Nath wrote that due to the bad odour emanating from the SLRM garbage site near the college, it has become very difficult for the teachers to take classes and also problematic for the students. As such, both the college authority and the ABVP Unit urged upon the district administration to take immediate appropriate measures to stop dumping garbage at that particular site.
Speaking to way2barak, the members of the Cachar College Unit of ABVP said that the district administration has assured that they will do the needful within the next two days. Rohan Roy, Joint Secretary of ABVP Silchar, Ashit Das President ABVP Cachar College unit, Joydeep Paul Vice President of ABVP Cachar College Unit Nitish Tiwari Vice president ABVP Cachar College Unit, Dip Nath Joint Secretary ABVP Cachar college unit Satyabrata Chakraborty Agitation Incharge ABVP Cachar College unit were present during the agitation along with others.
