Cachar admin issues prohibitory orders on fishing
way2barak, April 1: With a view to prevent violation of the Assam Fishery Act 1953 (amended 2005) by the anti-social groups and according to section 23 and 23 (A) of the above Act, District Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jhan has issued a ban on fishing with larvae and eggs in open areas of all rivers, canals, canals, bills in Cachar district.
District Commissioner has issued strict orders to enforce rules under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code in public interest.
The instructions issued on monday states that no large nets, big nets with a mesh size of less than 7 cm should be used for fishing from April 1 to July 15. During the same period fishes such as rui, katla, mirga, chital etc. with eggs cannot be caught. Moreover, the ban on catching and selling these species of fish less than 9 inches in size will remain in place from August 1 to October. Moreover, at the same time, a ban has been issued on the fishing and selling of fish of the species Kailla, Gonia etc. less than 10 cm in size. In addition, there is a ban on fishing, any type of fishing nets with a hole of less than 7 cm cannot be used in the river from May 1 to July 15.
