By seeking public opinion, CM Biplob Deb trying to divert attention, alleges CPI(M)
Dec. 10: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on last Tuesday had said that he would address a public meeting at Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala on 13 December to ask people whether they would like him to continue as the chief minister of the state. Reacting to this, CPI(M) Tripura Secretary Gautam Das has said that the Biplab Kumar Deb was trying to divert attention from the failure of his government by seeking to draw people’s mandate through a public meeting.
A section of BJP functionaries launched a ‘Biplab Hatao, BJP Bachao’ (Expel Biplab, Save BJP) campaign before BJP’s newly-appointed in-charge of Tripura in Agartala on Sunday last. Saddened by the campaign, Biplab Kumar Deb while calling a press conference at the State Secretariate on Wednesday sought for a ‘people’s mandate’ whether he should continue as the chief minister of Tripura on Sunday next.
Meanwhile, BJP national president J P Nadda has asked Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to cancel the public meeting he has called on December 13 in Agartala to let the public decide his fate as CM. Nadda stepped in to resolve the internal crisis in the Tripura unit is of the BJP.
