Barak Valley registers 511 Covid +ve cases on Thursday, 634 discharged & 5 deaths recorded
There are 5,848 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
June 3: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Thursday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was almost same as the previous day. A total of 511 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. It needs mention here that on Wednesday, Barak Valley registered 512 positive cases. At present, there are 5,848 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. Further, 634 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Thursday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 358 positive cases (It was 317 on Wednesday)
- Karimganj: 70 positive cases (It was 85 on Wednesday)
- Hailakandi: 83 positive cases (It was 110 on Wednesday)
A total of 358 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Thursday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 6,713 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 298 persons were found positive, whereas 60 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 11,642 in 2021, whereas during the year, 8,314 patients were discharged.Also,443 patients were discharged after getting cured during the day. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 3,217.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 2 June to 5 PM on 3 June) witnessed demise of 05 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 5 deceased are from Cachar district.
The deceased were identified as E Bimal Singha (27) from Lakhipur in Cachar district, Nur Nehar Bibi (60) from Silcoorie in Cachar, Suparna Das (76) from Meherpur, Silchar, Santanu Das (52) from Kanakpur, Silchar and Nakul Sarkar (65) from Ghoniala, Silchar.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 3 June, there were 275 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 87 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 188 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 33 patients were put under ventilator support and 152 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 25 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 46 of them were discharged. Further, 25 of them have opted for home isolation.
Hailakandi registered 83 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Of the 83 positive cases detected on Thursday, 80 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 03 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 1,425 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,796 RAT tests and 302 RT-PCR tests were done. 125 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that 110 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Wednesday. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 6,544.
As of now, in the 56,032 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 16,668 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 70 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday. The district has currently 1,206 active COVID-19 cases, while 66 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Thursday. 2,493 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 85 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Wednesday.
On Thursday, out of 1,07,075 tests, 4,309 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,24,385. The positivity rate in the state is 4.02 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 386 positive cases during the day. Further, on Thursday, 46 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. It needs mention that the number of deaths came down 50 after a couple of days. On Wednesday, 4,790 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 3,68,981 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 50,534 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 46 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 46 deceased, 08 are from Tinsukita; 06 from Dibrugarh; 05 from Kamrup Metro; 04 each from Morigaon, Nagaon & Sonitpur; 02 each from Cachar & Nalbari; 01 each from Charaideo, Darrang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Kamrup Rural & Sivasagar. The death tally of the state now stands at 3,523.
