Barak Valley registers 412 Covid +ve cases on Saturday, 134 discharged
There are 2,505 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
Jan 15: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually increasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Saturday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less. A total of 412 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley. Further, during the day, 134 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 2,505 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Friday, Barak Valley registered 548 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Saturday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 248 positive cases (It was 476 on Friday)
- Karimganj: 98 positive cases (It was 42 on Friday)
- Hailakandi: 66 positive cases (It was 70 on Friday)
The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Saturday at 9.050 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 200-mark on Saturday. A total of 248 persons were found positive in the district on 15 January. Also, 96 patients were discharged (16 from hospital & 80 from home) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1.538, out of which, 1,377 are in home isolation whereas 161 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Friday, 476 persons were found positive in Cachar.
As per the updated data, a total of 1,034 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 110 persons were found positive, whereas 138 were detected positive out of 373 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 2,220 whereas during this phase, 458 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 14 January to 12 noon of 15 January, 2022. Further, a total of 5 persons died due to Covid in Cachar this year.
There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 14 January to 5 PM on 15 January) did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Saturday evening.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 15 January, there were 42 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support, and 08 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 06 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 10 were discharged. At SMCH, 34 persons were detected positive in RAT test whereas, 19 were found RT-PCR positive. Further, 22 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre and 22 patients opted for home isolation.
On Saturday, Hailakandi registered 66 (65 RAT & 01 RT-PCR) new COVID-19 cases. The district has altogether has 467 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 664 RAT tests and 55 RT-PCR tests were done. 26 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 8,577 (both 1st & 2nd wave).
As of now, a total of 4,583 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 70 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Saturday. Till date, 51 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district. A total of 755 persons were vaccinated on Tuesday.
There was a sharp rise in the number of Covid patients in Karimganj district. Karimganj registered 98 fresh COVID case on Saturday. The district has currently 500 active COVID cases, while 12 patients were discharged on Saturday. 589 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 42 persons were detected positive in Karimganj on Friday.
On Saturday, out of 34,355 tests, 3,390 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 6,44,026. The positivity rate in the state is 9.87 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 919 positive cases during the day. Further, on Saturday, 04 died in the state due to COVID-19. The deceased are from Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kamrup Rural & Golaghat. The death toll in the state stands at 6,201. The recovery rate is 96.07 percent. Also, 876 patients were discharged during the day. At present, there are 17,777 active cases in the state.
India reported 2,68,833 new Covid-19 positive cases on Saturday, 1.8 per cent higher than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry. Total recoveries were at 3,49,47,390 across the country. A total of 1,22,684 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 94.83 per cent. As many as 402 people have died of Covid during the past 24-hour period, according to the Health Ministry. India’s active caseload stands at 14,17,820. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 1,45,747. The daily positivity rate stood at 16.66 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was 12.84 per cent. This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,68,50,962. Of this, 6,041 cases were of the highly transmissible Omicron variant of coronavirus.
