Barak Valley registers 128 Covid-19 +ve cases on Monday
Active cases 728 in Barak Valley
April 26: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Monday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased once again. A total of 128 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. It needs mention here that on Saturday, Barak Valley registered 120 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Monday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 90 positive cases (It was also 108 on Sunday)
- Karimganj: 21 positive cases (It was 09 on Saturday)
- Hailakandi: 17 positive cases (It was 03 on Saturday)
On Monday, a total of a total of 90 persons were found positive in Cachar district . The number of active cases in Cachar has now gone up to 582. As per the updated data, a total of 1,364 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 54 persons were found positive, whereas 36 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Monday night. It needs mention here that on Sunday too, the total positive cases detected here was 108. With this, the district tally of coronavirus cases has gone upto 12,311. Again, 11,691 patients till now were cured and discharged.
Hailakandi reported 17 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 3,438. All the active cases have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test. So far 1,74,684 samples have been taken, including 1,145 samples on Monday. Results of 645 samples are being awaited from Silchar Medical College and Hospital. With these new cases, the district has altogether 54 active COVID-19 cases while 3,361 patients have recuperated from the disease. 14 patients are presently undergoing treatment at SK Roy Civil Hospital and 40 kept under home isolation.
On Monday, out of 2,615 Covid tests done, 21 persons were found positive in Karimganj district. Further, during the day, 13 patients were discharged after getting cured. At present, there are 92 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that on Sunday, 09 persons were found positive in the district.
On Monday, out of 73,181 tests, 3,137 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 2,40,344. The positivity rate in the state is 4.29 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 1153 positive cases during the day. During the day, 15 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 1,215. This is the highest single-day deaths recorded in Assam in 2021. It needs mention here that on Sunday, 1,844 persons tested positive in Assam and 14 deaths were registered.
Further, during the day, 15 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19, the highest single day figures in the state this year. Out of the 15 deceased on Monday, 08 are from Kamrup Metro, 03 from Dibrugarh, 02 from Barpeta and 01 from Goalpara. The death tally of the state now stands at 1,215. Further, as per the data released by NHM Assam, another 1,347 Covid patients also died in Assam due to comorbidities. In Barak Valley also 2 deaths were recorded on Monday. However, though positive, yet both of them were certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
