Assam CM meets Nitin Gadkari, urges for speedy completion of 48.5 km stretch of Lumding- Silchar NH

Aug 9: Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is on an official tour to New Delhi, where he met various union ministers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking to his twitter handle, CM Assam wrote, “Today I called on Adarniya PM Sri @narendramodi to apprise him on how our Government has been working to steer & scale up Assam’s development journey as envisioned by him. Also briefed him about Bodo peace process, our war against drugs & implementation of various central schemes.”

Dr Sarma also met Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari. He discussed with Gadkari the critical 35-km elevated Kaziranga Corridor and how this is earnestly needed to protect the wildlife including Assam’s pride Rhinos. Himanta stated, “It shall also give filip to tourism.” He also requested Nitin Gadkari to help Assam by giving instructions for expeditious completion of 48.5 km stretch (Rs 1823 cr) on Lumding – Silchar NH, which is vital for people of Barak Valley. Assam is firm to strengthen its road network further.

CM Assam also met Minister of Health and Family Welfare; Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya. After the meeting, CM Sharma tweeted, “o seek his guidance on how to intensify our #Covid management and  vaccination strategies, met Union Health Min Sri @mansukhmandviya. Apprised him on how Assam has steered & sustained its fight against the pandemic. Also discussed ways to re-energize BVFCL (Namrup II, III & IV).” 

Earlier, he also met Union Minister For Culture, Tourism And Development Of North Eastern Region (DoNER), G. Kishan Reddy and discussed a host of developmental issues and assured him that the pace of progress of Assam and the NorthEast,
