Assam cabinet resolves to hold BTR elections within December
Oct. 7: Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, several key decisions were taken in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal held on Wednesday at the administrative staff college in Khanapara, Guwahati. The Cabinet resolved that the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections to be held within December. The cabinet will request the state election commission to schedule for the same.
Keeping in view the present condition, the CoM has decided to request the State Election Commission to schedule BTC elections in December this year.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Assam wrote, “Keeping in view the present condition, the CoM has decided to request the State Election Commission to schedule BTC elections in December this year.”
Meanwhile, the Assam State Cabinet has taken two important decisions as per which, Bodo will be the Associate official language for the entire state of Assam. The 2nd decision which was taken is that the Bodo Kachari autonomous welfare Council will be outside 6th schedule area for welfare of Bodo community. This was confirmed in a tweet by Chief Minister Assam on Wednesday.
