All Assam Nurses’ Association to launch indefinite strike from 26 Nov.
November 18: The All Assam Nurses’ Association (AANA) has given a call for indefinite strike from 26 November. Several pending issues have irked the nurses of Assam now. The 7th Pay Commission though has been implemented, but has failed to solve many of their long standing problems. After the revision of pay, they have given several representations to the state government to solve their genuine problems which they are facing for some period. But the state government has turned a deaf ear to their appeal.
It is in this backdrop that the All Assam Nurses’ Association (AANA) has given a call for indefinite strike from 26 November. AANA office bearers have stated that they were bound to resort to indefinite strike throughout Assam because of the indifferent attitude of the state government. They alleged that the apathy of the government is responsible for the inconvenience which will be caused to the patients for their indefinite strike.
The prime demands of AANA includes removal of anomalies related to their grade pay and abolition of the designation of the staff nurses including the service rules through dialogues. However, they have said that they may reconsider their decision of indefinite strike if the government assures them of solving their problems.
