Alert: DC Cachar declares 11 villages in the district as ‘Precautionary Containment Zone’

May 7: With the detection of a new COVID-19 case in the district of Cachar on 6 May, certain stringent measures as per protocol was adopted by the Deputy Commissioner. In four separate orders, DC Barnali Sharma earmarked certain areas in the district as  ‘Precautionary Containment Zone.’ The orders were issued in respect of four revenue circles in Cachar district. A total of 11 villages/areas were identified within the four revenue circles as  ‘Precautionary Containment Zone.’

Bus No. RJ-27-PB-7071 which came from Ajmer to Cachar

The order issued by the Deputy Commissioner on 6 May, 2020 stated, “Whereas stranded persons of Cachar district who were returning by Bus No. RJ-27-PB-7071 from Ajmer to Cachar on 06.05.2020. And whereas, Mr. Faridul Islam, who declared himself to be a resident of District Sonitput was also travelling in the aforementioned bus. And whereas, he was found COVID 19 Positive upon testing at Silchar Medical College & Hospital, Silchar.”

It is in this context, that the Deputy Commissioner declared 11 villages/areas under the following revenue circles as  ‘Precautionary Containment Zone’:

  1. Sadar Revenue Circle: Barenga Pt – III, Pechador, Ramnagar, Tarapur Pt – IV and Sirukandi.
  2. Udharbond Revenue Circle: Durganagar Pt – VI and Dayapur Pt – II.
  3. Lakhipur Revenue Circle: Makhan Nagar, Jirighat.
  4. Sonai Revenue Circle: Didarkush Pt – III, Motinagar, Bahorikandi Pt – II, Sayadpur Pt – V and Kajidhor Pt- IV.
