Akhil Gogoi to launch protest against Citizenship Bill on Facebook from 26 Nov.
November 25: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi will launch campaign on social networking sites against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 on November 26. KMSS leader AKhil Gogoi while speaking to media said “On November 26, we will start a campaign opposing the Bill on Facebook. The meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Bill will take place on November 27.” Gogoi further stated that “The statement of the campaign would be: We oppose the unconstitutional and anti-national Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Scrap the bill.”
KMSS leader AKhil Gogoi appealed to the other political parties to act for the interest of the greater Assamese community in reality, Gogoi said, “It is high time to stand in unison against the bill. AGP, Congress and other political parties and organisations representing various ethnic groups should come under one umbrella and force the government to withdraw the bill.” He added, “Each and every Assamese should observe November 27 as a ‘Protest Day’. We appeal the artistes, journalists, litterateurs to register their protest against the Bill on November 26.”
