After Radhamadhab, GC College now returns fees of HS exam which was not held due to pandemic
Dec. 1: Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) was supposed to conduct the HS First Year Final Exam, 2020 in the month of April. But due to the pandemic situation followed by nationwide lockdown, the said examination was cancelled and all students were automatically promoted to HS 2nd Year. However, the students had already paid the examination fees to their respective colleges much ahead of the outbreak of the pandemic in the month of December, 2019.
Meanwhile, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also gave a memorandum to the Principal of GC College, wherein they urged upon the college authority to return back the fees collected from the students of HS 1st year for their final exam, which was subsequently cancelled due to the pandemic. Finally, the college agreed to return back the fees after necessary deduction to the students.
In an order issued by Dr. Bivash Deb, Principal of GC College, it was stated, “Considering the Memorandum dated 09-11-2020 submitted by the students of GC College, it is decided in the meeting held on 24-11-2020 in the Principals’ Chamber that after deducting the requisite amount of Exam fees deposited to the AHSEC’ and other required exam expenditure (preparation of Admit Card etc.) the Mark Sheet Fees @ Rs 200/- per student and Centre Fee @ Rs 300 per student i.e. total Rs 500 per student may be considered for refund to the H.S. 1st Year Examinees of 2020 after accord of necessary approval of the Governing Body, G.C. College.”
It needs mention here that Radhamadhab College, Silchar has already returned the exam fees to the students on 28 November, 2020.
