After initial hiccups, Orunodoi verification going on in full swing in Cachar
way2barak Aug. 25: A major exercise to update Orunodoi beneficiaries’ list began in Assam from 20 August, 2022, where college students were involved to conduct house visits and collect requisite information including Aadhaar number and KYC details by means of a mobile App specially developed for this purpose.
At present, around 1,15,648 lakh beneficiaries in Cachar district are getting Rs.1000 per month. It is the largest ever Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. The scheme has been dedicated for women empowerment. The scheme helps marginalised households of Assam for purchasing essential commodities like nutritional items & medicines.
Though the survey work by the Verification Teams (VT) in Cachar started at a slow pace, but from the last two days, it has caught momentum and is now going on in full swing. On Thursday, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Rohan Kumar Jha interacted with the Orunodoi survey team at Palonghat and instructed them to carry out survey strictly as per guidelines.
Assam Government in a notification issued on 10 August, 2022 clarified that any Government employee or their dependent family members, who is a recipient of Orunodoi benefits should compulsorily opt-out from Orunodoi scheme before 20 August, 2022, failing which stern disciplinary action will be initiated against them.
