51 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Tuesday

Active cases 728 in Cachar; 161 discharged on Tuesday

June 29:  A total of 51 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Tuesday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 4,975 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 48 were found positive, whereas 03 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR test. Also, 161 patients got cured and subsequently discharged. With this, the number of active cases in the district now stands at 728. It needs mention here that 72 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Monday.

On Tuesday, a total of 2,995 persons were administered Covid-19 vaccine in Cachar district.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley for more than a month. But for two consecutive days, Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) did not witness the demise of any Covid-19 positive patient. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 28 June to 5 PM on 29 June) witnessed demise of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at SMCH. The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tues evening. The deceased was identified as:

  • Rajlakshmi Sharma (47) from Bajaricherra in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 27 June. She however, passed away at 8.30 PM on 28 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 29 June, there were 137 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 55 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 82 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 12 patients were put under ventilator support and 88 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 21 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 13 of them were discharged.
