67 tests Covid +ve in Karimganj on Wednesday, 91 discharged, 2 deaths registered

June 23: Karimganj registered 67 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The district has currently 952 active COVID-19 cases, while 91 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Wednesday. 5,131 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 87 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Tuesday.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 22 June to 5 PM on 23 June) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 4 deceased, 02 are from Cachar district and 02 from Karimganj district.

The two deceased from Karimganj were identified as:

  • Akhil Suklabaidya (58) from Kamalpur in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 18 June. He, however, passed away at 6.05 PM on 22 June.
  • Suridhi Acharje (77) from Bajarighat in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 23 June. The patient was, however, found to be dead during admission.
