On 1st day of mega vaccination drive, Cachar administers 24,263 doses as against a target of 15,000 jabs
June 21: The 10-days Mega Vaccination Drive kick started in 2,390 centres across Assam. Each district in Assam were given a daily target for inoculation. For Cachar district, the daily target was 15,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine. However, the performance of Cachar district was more than the set target. As against the target of 15,000 jabs, Cachar administered the jab to 24,263 persons on the 1st day on 21 June. Further, more than 24,000 Rapid Antigen Tests were also done in the district during the day.
There were a total of 95 vaccination centres under this special vaccination drive. The entire target was fully achieved from rural areas. More than 1000 members, including health workers, teachers, police, magistrate, officers were involved in this mega inoculation exercise. On Monday, Cachar was on the 3rd spot, just behind Kamrup Metro and Dibrugarh in terms of administering vaccine.
Taking to social media, district administration Cachar wrote, “We sign off as the third highest vaccinated district in state. We would request same support tomorrow and day after. Those who couldn’t make it, fear not as such drives shall keep continuing. All GPs will be covered in phased manner. Please wait for your turn. No reason to panic, or go to another GPs vaccination site and result in overcrowding.”
On the first day of this mega vaccination drive on Monday, a total of 3,02,609 persons were administered the jab in various centres of Assam. With this, a total of 56,54,513 persons were vaccinated in Assam till now, out of which, 45,71,113 persons has received the 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while 10,83,400 were given the second dose.
