After CBSE, around 12 states have cancelled Class XII exams
June 6: There will be no Class XII board exams of CBSE this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on 1 June, ending weeks of anxiety among students and parents over the Covid situation in the country. Following the footsteps of CBSE, many state boards later on has also cancelled their Class XII exams. As of now, as many as twelve states have cancelled their respective Class XII board exams amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Those states which have cancelled the Class XII Board examinations are: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odhisa, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Karnataka. However, Kerala and Bihar boards have already conducted their Class XII exams.

However, Assam Education Minister declined to follow the footsteps of PM Modi and rather announced, “CBSE has cancelled the examination, we will not cancel. HSLC and HS examinations are important for student’s future.” Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the decision on holding the class 12 exams in the state will be taken only after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announces modalities for marking the students. He further said that a decision in this matter will be taken after consultation with all stakeholders as it is a question of a students’ future.
