421 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Thursday, 291 discharged & 8 deaths at SMCH

May 27: A total of 421 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Thursday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 8,046 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 415 were found positive, whereas 06 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thursday evening. Also, 291 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Wednesday, 536 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 08 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 08 deceased, 06 are from Cachar district, 01 from Karimganj & 01 from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as: Pratima Barman (38) from Dholai in Cachar, Lutfur Nahar (47) from Narayanpur in Hailakandi, Shimul Dey (55) from Karimganj, Gyan Ranjan Choudhury (79) from 2nd Link Road, Silchar, Kalabati Roy (57) from Dholai in Cachar district, Hem Bahadur Chetri (75) from Alambag in Cachar,  Kalyani Dey (75) from Tarapur and Robijul Ali Mazarbhuiya (70) from Bhagabazar in Cachar.
