Assam: All shops & markets to now shut from 11 AM, curfew now from 12 noon from 16 May

May 15: In the backdrop of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the state, Assam government has now issued revised guidelines as per which all shops and commercial establishments shall shut down at 11 AM on all days. Further, the movement of individuals will be totally restricted from 12 noon to 5 AM daily. This order shall come into force with effect from 5 AM of May 16, 2021 until further orders.

Issuing a notification in this regard, Chief Secretary of Assam Jishnu Baruah on 15 May, 2021 stated, “The State Disaster Management Authority, Assam, hereby issues the following directives which shall come into force with effect from 5 AM of May 16, 2021 until further orders.” He further stated that the above is issued to further strengthen the containment of spread of COVID-19.

1. All shops and commercial establishments shall shut down at 11 AM on all days.

2. All vehicles other than government vehicles and those exempted vide Order No. ASDMA.24/ 2020/Pt-2/250 dated 13th May, 2021 will be allowed to ply in accordance with an odd- even formula to be decided by the jurisdictional District Disaster Management Authority between 5 AM to 12 noon. However, this restriction shall not apply to personal vehicles used for medical emergencies.

3. There shall be total ban on movement of individuals from 12 noon to 5 AM daily, except for exemptions specified in Order No. ASDMA.24/2020/ Pt-2/250 dated 13th May, 2021.

4. Other restrictions as notified vide Order No. ASDMA.24/ 2020/Pt-2/241 dated 12″1 May, 2021 & clarifications issued vide Order No. ASDMA.24/ 2020/Pt-2/250 dated 13th May, 2021 shall continue except the modification of timing as above.
