BJYM Cachar demands probe into attack on sister’s house of Aminul Haque, meets DC & SP

May 7: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Cachar has on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli and Superintendent of Police, Bhanwar Lal Meena demanding “punishment against the AIUDF miscreants” who had attacked the sister’s house of former Deputy Speaker Amimul Haque Laskar.

Speaking on the occasion, President of BJYM Cachar Amitesh Chakraborty said, “We will not allow BJP workers to be brutally tortured in Sonai by the AIUDF goons.” Chakraborty further alleged that since the counting of votes in Sonai constituency, the supporters of AIUDF MLA Karim Uddin Barabhuiya, who won the seat had been incessantly harassing the BJP supporters in various areas within Sonai constituency.

“On Wednesday afternoon, around 30 miscreants attacked the residence of the sister of Aminul Haque’s; most of whom are associated with AIUDF,” alleged Rauf Choudhury, the nephew of former Deputy Speaker. According to his statement, the miscreants broke inside the house when the family members were preparing their meal. He also alleged that “The Goons started to harass the family members & hurled abuses on them.”

General Secretary Suchanda Chakraborty, Secretary Ozoswee Das,Shubham Roy, Ranjit Roy, Dipayan Deb and others were present along with the President of the District Youth Morcha while submitting the memorandum to the DC and SP on Friday.

It needs mention here that in the recently concluded Assembly Election, Aminul Haque Laskar (BJP) lost against Karim Uddin Barbhuiya (AIUDF) by a wide margin of 19,694 votes. Aminul Haque Laskar got 52,243 votes, whereas, Karim Uddin Barbhuiya got 71,937 votes.
