4,489 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Monday, 29 deaths registered & 2,534 discharged

May 3: On Monday, out of 55,939 tests, 4,489 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. This is the highest single day spike in coronavirus cases in 2021. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 2,63,450. The positivity rate in the state is 8.02 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 1,645 positive cases during the day. Further, on Monday, 29 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 1,389.

It needs mention here that on Sunday, 2,385 persons tested positive in Assam and 30 deaths were registered.

On Monday, 2,534 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,34,237 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 88.91 percent.

Further, during the day, 29 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 29 deceased, 13 are from Kamrup Metro, 4 from Dibrugarh, 3 from Karimganj, 2 from Udalguri, 1 each from Bongaigaon, Cachar, Goalpara, Kamrup Rural, Nalbari, Sonitpur and Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 1,389.
