Let’s start a new era of clean politics, urges Congress candidate Tamal Banik

March 22: With each passing day, the mercury level of the electoral campaign for the ensuing Assembly Elections is rising high. Congress candidate from 09-Silchar Assembly constituency, Congress candidate Tamal Kanti Banik is on the field as against the BJP candidate Dipayan Chakraborty and Independent candidate Dilip Kumar Paul. Mr Banik, however, mentioned that his real contest is not against any party or individual but for a positive change that would enable all sections of the populace to live a life of dignity. Mass gathering of people in all his electoral meetings and rallies has become a common feature.

On Monday, a rally was taken out in the morning from Municipal Ward No 19, which then went through Ward No. 26. This was followed by a public meeting in a local banquet hall, which was attended by the people of the locality.

Addressing the gathering, Congress candidate Tamal Kanti Banik said, “I am overwhelmed by the love, affection and respect given by the people. Silchar is my birthplace and I am proud to be born here. However, it pains me a lot to see the town in its present condition. I love to dream and then transform the dream into reality. My objective is to beautify Silchar in all its aspects. However, when I say ‘development’ I mean sustainable development. Any development which comes as a result of destroying nature/ green is unwelcome to me. Yes, I do have my plans. If elected to power by your blessings, then it will be my foremost agenda to make my birthplace the best of all.”

In the evening, electoral meetings were held at Bhajantipur GP, Ambicapur GP, Ramnagar Bypass and Topkhana. In all the meetings, people flocked in large numbers. Speaking during the occasion, Tamal Banik said, “I am here to assure you that if elected, I am definitely going to give a new meaning to the term politics. People think that politics is always very negative. But I assure you of clean and positive politics. None can reach the top by framing false allegation and sharing false information. Let’s start a new era of clean politics. Let’s think of development.”
