‘King of Spices’ MDH owner Dharampal Gulati passes away

Dec. 3: The ‘King of Spices’, Dharampal Gulati, owner of MDH Spices passed away on December 3. He was 97 years old. Gulati was born (1923) and raised in Sialkot, Pakistan. As per reports, Gulati was undergoing treatment at a hospital in New Delhi where he suffered a cardiac arrest on December 3 morning. Often referred to as the ‘King of Spices’, Gulati appeared in several advertisements of MDH products.

Dharampal’s father Chuni Lal sold spices from a small shop Mahashian Di Hat. Gulati opened a shop in Delhi’s Karol Bagh and restarted his family business of ground spices and under the “Mahashian Di Hatti of Sialkot” banner. MDH (Mahashian Di Hatti) now has 15 factories across India and exports nearly 50 different type of spices across the world.
