02 patients critical at SMCH on Wednesday; 1 more death registered

Oct. 28: On Wednesday, inspite of repeated attempts, the daily update of coronavirus count in Cachar district was not made available to the media by the district administration. Due to the demise of the father of District Media Expert Suman Choudhury, he was on leave. In a message, Mr. Choudhury conveyed, “I am on leave and is at my residence in Ramkrishna Nagar. In my absence, information may be collected from DSO, IDSP.” He also shared the mobile number of the DSO. However, inspite of repeated calls made to the concerned person Dr. Ibrahim Ali, did not respond. As such, we were not able to provide the daily count of COVID-19 of Cachar district on Wednesday. It needs mention here that 11 persons were found positive in Cachar on Tuesday.

However, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital provided the daily data of SMCH.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday said that in the last 24 hours, 182 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 282 persons were collected. 212 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 05 of them tested positive. Further, 490 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 were found positive.

Apart from this, 01 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 04 were discharged. At present, there are 44 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 18 are admitted in ICU and none of them are in ventilation. 02 patients are now in critical condition. No patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 247 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 465 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 patient died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 172 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 172 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
