On Maha Saptami, 20 tests +ve in Cachar

Oct. 23: On Friday, a total of 20 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 755 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in the district, out of which, 16 persons were found positive, whereas 04 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Friday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,226. It needs mention here that 49 persons were found positive in Cachar on Thursday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Friday said that in the last 24 hours, 176 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 389 persons were collected. 438 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 09 of them tested positive. Further, 278 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 03 were found positive.

Apart from this, 04 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 01 were discharged. At present, there are 40 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 20 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 03 patients are now in critical condition. No patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 247 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 465 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 168 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 168 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
