কর্নাটকে লোকসভার উপনির্বাচনে দুটিতেই হারল বিজেপি, জিতেছে শুধু শিমোগা
Congress wins 2 seats in Karnataka bypoll, BJP retains only Shivamogga

৬ নভেম্বরঃ কর্নাটকে তিনটি লোকসভা আসনের উপনির্বাচনে দু’টিতেই হারল বিজেপি প্রার্থী। একটি পেল কংগ্রেস, অন্যটি জেডি (এস)।  কংগ্রেস বেলারি লোকসভা আসনটি ছিনিয়ে নিয়েছে।  ২০০৪ সাল থেকে বিজেপির হাতে ছিল এই আসন। জেডি (এস) মান্ডিয়া আসনটি এ বারও নিজেদের দখলে রেখেছে। শুধু শিমোগা লোকসভা আসনে বিজেপির জয় হয়েছে। এই আসনে বিজেপি প্রার্থী ছিলেন ইয়েদুরাপ্পার ছেলে বি ওয়াই রাঘবেন্দ্র। তিনি জিতেছেন ৫২ হাজার ১৪৮ ভোটে। ইয়েদুরাপ্পা আসনটি ছেড়ে দেওয়ায় এ বার উপনির্বাচন হয়েছিল শিমোগা লোকসভা আসনে।

বিধানসভা আসনের উপনির্বাচনে আরও বেশি হতাশ হতে হয়েছে বিজেপিকে। দু’টি আসনে উপনির্বাচন হয়েছিল, একটিতে জয়ী হয়েছে কংগ্রেস। অন্যটি পেয়েছে জেডি (এস)।

The Congress-JD(S) alliance wrested a 4-1 victory over the BJP after winning the Ramanagara, Jamkhandi, Mandya and Bellary seats, as the BJP had to settle with a victory in Shivamogga. The alliance won in Ballari and Mandya parliamentary seats. It also won Jamkhandi and Ramanagara assembly seats. The BJP won the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. Congress leader P Chidambaram has reacted to the alliance’s performance, saying the coalition has delivered.

The counting of votes for three Lok Sabha and three Assembly seats in Karnataka, which went to the bypolls on Saturday, began this morning. An estimated 67 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the bypolls.Reacting to the win, chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said he was confident of a better result in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. “There are 28 LS seats, we’ll work with Congress to win all of them, that is our goal. This election was the first step.”

Elated over the performance of the ruling alliance candidates, jubilant Congress workers distributed sweets and broke coconuts at various places. Karnataka Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao claimed the results reflected the disenchantment of people with the BJP.
