82 tests +ve in Cachar on Friday, 1 more dies at SMCH
Oct. 2: On Friday, a total of 82 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 1230 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which 61 persons were found positive, whereas 21 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Friday night. However, he indicated the numbers may increase at night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,560. It needs mention here that 61 persons were found positive in Cachar on Thursday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Friday said that in the last 24 hours, 152 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 493 persons were collected. 700 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 29 of them tested positive. Further, 128 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 were found positive.
Apart from this, 07 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 05 were discharged. At present, there are 100 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 34 patients are now in critical condition. Another 18 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 189 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 350 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 patient from Cachar died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 149 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 149 deaths, 60 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
Dr Gupta informed that the new 40-bedded ICU at SMCH has started full functioning from Friday. He also informed that from Friday onwards as per new directions of the government, no attendant will be allowed to stay with the patients.
