89 tests +ve in Cachar on Saturday, no deaths at SMCH for 2nd consecutive day
Sept. 26: On Saturday, a total of 89 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 65 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 24 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,681. It needs mention here that 105 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.
In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test Results, 04 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive on Saturday in Cachar district. Out of them 2 persons are from Masimpur Military Station. They are a 46-year-old male and a 52-year-old male. A 70 years old male from Tapoban Nagar in Silchar also tested positive during the day. The last one in this slot is a 54-year-old male from Tarapur who came in contact with a lab confirmed case.
In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test Results, 16 persons were found positive. Out of them 3 persons from a same family at Vivekananda Road, Silchar tested positive. They are a 36 years old female, 4 years old female child and a 4 months old baby. All of them came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. All of them are asymptomatic.
Apart from them, 09 persons from Malugram were also detected as COVID-19 positive. They are a 61-year-old male, 50-year-old female, 28-year-old male, 5 months old baby, 12 years old female, 45 years old female, 60 years old male, 30 years old female and 7 years old female. A 82-year-old male from from Irongmara who is presently admitted at SARI Ward in SMCH was also found positive. He exhibited ILI symptoms. Two more persons with SARI symptoms were also detected. They are a 54 years old male from Mazumder Bazar Tarapur and 53 years old male from Joypur Part-I. The last one in this slot is a junior doctor from SMCH. He was already in quarantine.
In the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test Results, 04 persons were detected positive. They are a 19 years old pregnant woman in near labour from Katigorah who is presently admitted at SMCH, 23 years old pregnant woman from Madhurbond who too is admitted at SMCH, 24 years old pregnant woman from Dwarbond presently admitted at SMCH and 39 years old pregnant woman from Katigorah also admitted at SMCH.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, 212 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 647 persons were collected. 316 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 22 of them tested positive. Further, 125 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 08 were found positive.
Apart from this, 11 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 06 were discharged. At present, there are 112 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 22 patients are now in critical condition. Another 21 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 169 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 330 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no persons have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 143 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 143 deaths, 59 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
