Capacity development of Anganwadi workers, farm women organised as part of ongoing Poshan Maah

Sept.18: A capacity development of Anganwadi workers and farm women under the ongoing Poshan Maah was organised here on Thursday. ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hailakandi organized the day-long training programme. The programme was successfully conducted at 528 No.Serishpore Chah Bagan LP School in collaboration with Social Welfare Department.

Dr. Bijoy Chhetri, In-charge Head, ICAR KVK, Hailakandi welcomed the gathering and explained the objectives of the programme. In his opening remarks, Dr. Chhetri emphasised on the importance of nutrition farming and nutritious food in day-to- day life.

Saurabh Sarma, SMS (Plant Protection) and AD Deepak Misra, SMS (Horticulture) from ICAR, KVK, Hailakandi imparted training to the Anganwadi workers and farm women on ‘Importance of nutrition in pregnant women and children’ and ‘Importance of household kitchen gardening” for better livelihoods, respectively. Dr. K.Tayal Senzeba, SMS (Soil and Water Conservation Engineering) delivered a lecture on protective cultivation of nutrition garden.

Dr. A.R. Ahmed, SDAO from Agriculture Department, motivated the gathering towards adoption of nutri gardens as well as the importance of nutritious food for pregnant women and children. District CDPO, District Coordinator, Poshan Maah, Block Coordinator and Sector Officer, Anganwadi were also present. A total number of 30 numbers of Anganwadi workers & farm women attended the programme. Vegetable seeds for nutri garden were provided to the trainees by IFFCO and KVK which included seeds of coriander, radish, palak, fenugreek, carrot and bottle gourd.
