3 consecutive earthquake jolts Mizoram on Thursday

August 27: On Thursday, 3 consecutive earthquakes caused immense panic among the people of Champhai district in Mizoram. The 1st quake occurred at at Champhai at 5.37 PM. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremor was of 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale. It’s epicentre was at a 30 Km depth, 35 km  southwest of Champhai district.

The 2nd quake on the same day occurred at 6.16 PM. The magnitude of the quake was 3.6 on the Richter scale (25 km depth). As per the the National Centre for Seismology, the tremor took place at 6.47 PM on Thursday (25 km depth). It’s magnitude was 4.1. However, further details about the quakes are awaited. The epicenter of the last two quakes were also in Champai district of Mizoram.
