২৮ অক্টোবরঃ কাটাখাল নদীতে নৌকোডুবির ঘটনায় ৩ যাত্রীর হদিশ মিলছে না । হাইলাকান্দি জেলার লালামুখ ফেরিঘাটে রবিবার বিকেল আড়াইটায় ঘটে  এই দুর্ঘটনা। এপার-ওপার হওয়ার সময় আচমকা পাল্টি খায় নৌকাটি। নিখোঁজ যাত্রীরা হলেন রমেশ পাশি (৪০), অজয় পাশি (১৯) ও সুমিত পাশি (২২)। রঙমিস্ত্রির জোগাড়ে রমেশের পায়ে সমস্যা রয়েছে। খুঁড়িয়ে চলেন তিনি। অজয় ও সুমিত দুই ভাই। দুই ছেলে নিখোঁজ হওয়ার দরুন বাবা মেঘলাল পাশির দিশেহারা অবস্থা।

তাদের সন্ধানে পুলিশ ও এসডিআরএফ বিকেলেই নদীতে নামে। সন্ধ্যা পর্যন্ত অভিযান চলে। অন্ধকারের দরুন রাতে উঠে এলেও এসডিআরএফ জানায়, সোমবার সকালেই তারা ফের কাজ শুরু করবেন। শিলচর থেকে ডুবুরি আসবে। নৌকাডুবির খবর পেয়েই অতিরিক্ত জেলাশাসক অমলেন্দু রায়, মহকুমাশাসক জেমস আইন্ড লালামুখ ফেরিঘাটে ছুটে যান। নিজেরা উপস্থিত থেকে তল্লাশি অভিযান তদারকি করেন।

এ দিন ছিল হোসেন আহমেদ স্মৃতি ফুটবলের ফাইনাল ম্যাচ। হাইলাকান্দি ব্লাড মাউথ ও জষ্ণাবাদ ফুটবল অ্যাকাডেমির খেলা দেখতে তাঁরা লালামুখ বাগান নাচঘর এলাকা থেকে উত্তর জষ্ণাবাদ যাচ্ছিলেন। পারে প্রায় ভিড়েই যাচ্ছিল নৌকা। আচমকা ভেতরে জল ঢুকে পাল্টি খায়। জনাত্রিশেক যাত্রী ছিল তাতে। অন্যরা পারে উঠে গেলেও তিনজনের খোঁজ মিলছে না।

 

পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, দাড় টানা নৌকোয় এত যাত্রী বহনের জন্য ঘাটের লেসি নইম উদ্দিনকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে।

October 28: 3 persons were missing after a boat capsized at Katakhal River. The incident occurred at Ferry stand at Lalamukh in Hailakandi district on Sunday at around 2.30 in the afternoon. However, the boat capsized when it was crossing the river and three persons drowned. Those missing are Ramesh Pashi (40), Ajoy Pashi (19) and Sumit Pashi (22). Ramesh is an apprentice painter and has defect in his leg. Ajoy and Sumit are brothers. Their father Meghraj Pashi is in a poor state of mind as both of his sons are missing.

Police and SDRF have launched a massive search in the evening itself. However, they had to stop their operation as it became dark. SDRF informed that they will continue their search operation on early morning of Monday. Divers will also be called from Silchar. On getting the information, ADC Amalendu Roy and Circle Officer James Aind reached the spot. They stayed there when the search was conducted.

There was a football match that day between Hailakandi Blood Mouth and Joshnabad Football Academy. They were going to see the final match of Ahmed Memorial Football Tournament. As such, they were on their way to Joshnabad from Lalmukh Tea Garden. The boat was full to its capacity. Suddenly water started getting into the boat and it capsized. There were around 30 persons in that boat. Though the others managed to reach the bank, three of them were missing.

Police has informed that the in-charge of the Ferry stand, Naim Uddin was arrested as he allowed so many persons to travel in an ordinary boat.
