5 more Covid Care Centre comes up in Cachar including Don Bosco, AUS & NIT

August 16: Five more Covid Care Centres have come up in Cachar district. These are Assam University, Silchar (500-bedded capacity), NIT, Silchar (300-bedded capacity), Don Bosco School, Silchar (300-bedded capacity), Judhistar Saha HS School (130-bedded capacity), Kachudaram Model Hospital (1800-bedded capacity). This was done keeping in consideration the increasing load of asymptomatic COVID positive cases in the district and to reduce bed occupancy at SMCH and other hospitals.

A notification in this regard was issued by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson of District Health Society, Cachar on 15 August. In the said order, it was stated that, “The arrangement has been made with a view to cater the emergency situation situation arising out of increasing load of COVID positive cases being reported in the district. The necessary HR deployment, training as well as medical instruments supply will be done by SDM&HO Sonai BPHC (for Kachudaram Model Hospital), SDM&HO Sonai & Borkhola BPHC (for NIT, Silchar), SDM&HO Dholai BPHC (for Assam University, Silchar), SDM&HO Jalalpur BPHC (for Judhistar Saha HS School) and SDM&HO Borkhola BPHC (for Don Bosco School) in consultation with Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar in the above notified CCC. The logistics supply in the CCC will be ensured by DDMA Cachar. Necessary infrastructural gaps will be met by District Administration as per need.”
