Seva Dal gives food materials to families of COVID patients in containment zone

August 12: In a humanitarian move, Seva Dal Young Brigade went with food packets and distributed them among families of COVID-19 patients in remote areas of Cachar district whose houses at present are earmarked as containment zones.

Seva Dal Young Brigade Cachar District President, Deboja_Sumanta said, “On Wednesday, a Covid patient named Rajiv Das, who is at NATRIP Covid Care Centre, called our Ex MP Sushmita Dev and told her that they are at present lodged at Covid Centre & and their houses are marked as Containment Zones. Their family members are unable to go out for there livelihood from last 5 to 7 days. They do not even have food in their home to eat. The family members of the corona positive patients were in acute crisis of food stuff. There is absolutely no support from administration and public representatives. As such our leader Sushmita Dev directed us to distribute food materials among these families.”

It is in this backdrop, that a team of Seva Dal Young Brigade reached their houses with uncooked food materials and distributed them among those who are at present stuck inside containment zones. Deboja Sumanta said, “Though their houses were located in interior parts of Cachar district, yet learning their miserable plight, we ventured out and reached them.” The areas where they went for food distribution are Baladhan Tea Estate, Gramthan (Kanakpur Part I), Joypur, Razabazar under Udharbond constituency.

Taking to her Facebook Page, former MP and President of All India Mahila Congress, Sushmita Dev wrote, “Families of Covid positive patients in remote areas of Cachar are in containment zones – LOCKED IN without access to food. I thank Seva Dal Young Brigade for helping these people.”

Present during this mission were DCC General Secretary Rajdeep Deb Roy, Young Brigade District President Deboja Sumanta, Young Brigade District Vice President Sushanta Roy, Young Brigade Lakhipur Block President Mithon Dey, Executive Member Young Brigade RajaBazar Block Bikash Mohato among others.
