State govt asks people to be more vigilant & cautious about COVID-19

July 31: The State Government in a fresh order issued on 31 July stated that the Heads of Departments of Central/ State organizations, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, SDO(Civil)s, Circle and Block Officers, Autonomous Bodies, Councils, Corporations , Banks and all other private organizations to follow scrupulously the new guidelines of Ministry of Home Affairs issued on 29′ July, 2020 to carry out the functions of prescribed activities in their jurisdiction considering the ground situation and the following may be adhered to:

  1. Face coverings: Wearing of face cover is compulsory in public places; in workplaces; and during transport.
  2. Social distancing: individuals must maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet in public places.
  3. Gatherings: Large public gatherings/ congregations continue to remain prohibited. Marriage related gathering Number of guests not to exceed 50. Funeral/last rites related gathering : Number of persons not to exceed 20.
  4. Spitting in public places will be punishable with fine, as may be prescribed by the State/ UT local authority in accordance with its laws, rules or regulations.
  5. Consumption of liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco etc. in public places is prohibited.
  6. Staggering of work/ business hours will be followed in all establishments.
  7. Screening and hygiene: Provision for thermal scanning, hand wash or sanitizer will be made at all entry points and of hand wash or sanitize at exit points and common areas.
  8. Frequent sanitization of entire workplace, common facilities and all points which come into human contact e.g. door handles etc, will be ensured, including between shifts.
  9. Social distancing: All persons in charge of work places will ensure adequate distance between workers, adequate gaps between shifts, staggering the lunch breaks of staffs, etc

Further, the respective Heads of Assam Bhawans/ Houses located at New Delhi, Kolkata , Chennai, Vellore, Shillong were also asked to draw up their functioning plan as per the MHA’s Guideline issued on 29th July, 2020, if required and the guidelines which may have been issued by the respective State Governments where Bhawans/ Houses are located. The order was issued by Dr.M. Angamuthu, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam with the approval of Chief Secretary, Assam on 31 July, 2020.
