7 days total lockdown starts in Manipur on 23 July

July 23: On Thursday, a 7-day complete lockdown came into effect in Manipur at 2 pm on Thursday. Sharing this information, Manipur Chief Minister N.Biren Singh in a tweet wrote, “In view of the current COVID-19 situation in Manipur, the emergency State cabinet meeting has decided to impose total lockdown for 7 days starting from 02:00 pm of July 23, 2020 which might be extended further for 7 more days. I appeal all to abide by lockdown guidelines.”

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur reached 2,115 on Thursday with 55 new cases registered during the day. Till now, 1460 patients have recovered. At present, there are 655 active cases in Manipur. As of Thursday, 3,13,494 people were screened at various entry points of Manipur, while 74,614 samples were tested for COVID19.
