2 more tests COVID-19 +ve in Cachar on Saturday, day’s total 15

July 18: On Saturday evening another 2 persons were detected as positive. Earlier in the afternoon, 13 more persons were tested COVID-19 positive from across Cachar district as per the 1st two slots. With this, a total of 15 persons were reported as coronavirus positive in Cachar district till 6 PM on Saturday. These 15 persons were detected positive by RTPCR Test and Rapid Antigen Test. However, the particulars of the 2 persons tested positive on Saturday evening were not made available till the filing of this report on Saturday late evening.

Disclosing this information, District Media Expert, Sumon Choudhury said some of the cases detected on Saturday are without any travel history. These persons exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. He said, “This is indeed a matter of concern for the health department. I urge upon the public to remain awake, avoid mass gathering and stay safe.”

The 1st slot contained particulars of 4 persons who were tested as positive on Saturday. They are Debolina Dengupta (24) from Tarapur, Silchar. She does not have any travel history, but exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. Her swab sample was collected on 17 July and the positive report came on 18 July. She is symptomatic. As per sources, she is a staff of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

Another person, Subasish Roy Choudhury (50) from BSNL Quarter, National Highway was also detected as COVID-19 positive on Saturday. He too was categorised as exhibiting Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. His swab sample was collected on 16 July. He is asymptomatic.

Supriya Nath (27) from Narsingpur, Cachar came in contact with a asymptomatic and high risk lab confirmed case, who happened to be her relative.  As such, her swab sample was collected on 17 July and the very next day she was tested positive. Gautam Ghosh (40) of Jirighat, Cachar was detected as positive on 18 July whose source of getting contaminated was not mentioned in the list. He is asymptomatic.

The 2nd slot contained particulars of 9 persons, all of whom are from Cachar district. Out of the 9 positive persons, two of them are employees of Assam Rifles at Tarapur. They have a travel history from Delhi and were air passengers. They are asymptomatic. They were identified as Ravi Dutta Sharma (32) and Sandeep Kumar (32).

The others are Abdul Salam Choudhury (24) who came to Silchar by air from Kolkata on 17 July. He was quarantined at Assam University. His positive test report came on 18 July. Two more air passengers from Bengaluru were also tested positive during the day. They are Abul Hussain Laskar (40) from Ganganagar, Sonai and Alim Uddin Laskar (25) from Teletakor Pt-2 in Katigorah. Both of them were quarantined at NIT Silchar. Md. Sufian (34) from Singirbond at Lakhipur was also quarantined at NIT Silchar after he came by air from Jharkhand. They are asymptomatic.

Liton Ray (20) from Kalain came by flight from Hyderabad on 17 July and was detected as positive on 18 July. Two more air passengers who travelled from Bangalore to Silchar were also detected as cronavirus positive on Saturday. They were quarantined at NIT Silchar. They are Sahotomba Uddin (19) from Boglapar, Pailapool and Sahid Hussain Laskar (20) from Dudpatil-6, Borkhola. All of them are asymptomatic.
