800-bed temporary COVID-19 hospital is under construction at Khanapara field

June 26: With the number of cases touching 7000, Assam Health Department is taking the matter in a very serious manner. Guwahati is perhaps going through a worst phase as it witnesses large number of cases without any travel history. The state government has imposed 14 days lockdown in Guwahati. Keeping the ever increasing number of COVID-19 cases, Assam government is also striving to increase the number of COVID hospitals.

Sharing such an information, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “A 800-bed temporary hospital for #COVID19 patients is under construction at Khanapara field, Guwahati & will soon be functional, adding up to our treatment capacity. Inspected the site along with health officials & advised them to ensure best facilities & practises.”

On Friday, Assam witnessed 273 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the state tally has gone upto 6919, out of which, 2660 are active cases. As of now, 4247 patients and recovered and 9 of them have died.
