COVID-19: Zonal Screening Discharge Board constituted in Cachar
May 12: A ‘Zonal Screening Discharge Board’ was constituted in the district of Cachar. An order to this effect was issued by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority, Cachar on 11 May. The Board formed comprises of 4 persons as per their designation. They are:
- District Development Commissioner (DDC), Cachar.
- HOD of Community Medicine of Silchar Medical College.
- Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar.
- DSO, IDSP, Cachar.
As per the order, the committee shall meet on a daily basis and communicate its decision to all concerned for immediate follow up action. As a large number of people are returning back to Barak Valley who are kept under quarantine as per protocol. As such, the formation of Zonal Screening Discharge Board assumes significance.
The bus from Ajmer which entered Cachar on 6 May has led to a wide controversy after 10 passengers tested positive. As an aftermath, the administration has become extra cautious while dealing with those who are coming back to their home from outside North East India.
