Harvard University includes essay of Assam’s scholar in its course content

May 04: It’s indeed a matter of honour and pride that an essay written by Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti from Assam, has been included in the course content of Harvard University. Nagaon based Barkakoti is an academician engaged in Sankaradeva Studies and promoting the legacy of Srimanta Sankaradeva. Sharing this piece of information, Sanjib Kumar Barkakoti wrote, “Harvard University’s Department of Religion including my article in their course material for the course RELIGION S-1010.”

The essay used by Harvard University is titled Unique features of Srimanta Sankaradeva’s religious philosophy Vivaratanvâda: Comparison with other Sanâtana Hindu philosophies. Reacting to this, barkakoti said, “I was unaware of it is not sure as for how long the University has been using the essay. I uploaded the essay some 10 years back on a blog dedicated to Sankardeva.”

Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti is an Associate Professor of Economics at Nagaon’s ADP College. He did his post-graduation in 1983 from JNU. An erudite scholar on Sankaradeva, Borkakoti wrote several books, articles, essays on Srmanta Sankardeva.
