Assam to allow inter district movement on 25 to 27 April subject to MHA guidelines

April 22: It’s going to be relief for a major chuck of the populace of Assam who are struck outside their home district due to lockdown. They will now be allowed to return to their home district subject to MHA guidelines. This was informed by State Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing on Wednesday.

He further cautioned that, the facility does not mean that anybody within the state can go to anywhere. This facility can only be availed for home bound or office bound destinations with the state. The minister categorically stated that this measure has been taken in hand subject to MHA guidelines. Three days were earmarked for this inter-district movement and these dates are 25, 26 & 27 April, 2020.

The minister also spoke about the different categories of persons who can avail this facility and how to do so. E passes will be alloted to such persons. He said that the patients struck in other districts can seek the permission from the respective Deputy Commissioners before commuting. Next, the minister said about those persons who are struck in other districts of the state along with their own vehicles. they too should apply to the respective Deputy Commissioner, who on verifying the vehicle registration would grant e pass to go to their home district on the specific date with their vehicles.

Finally, for those who don’t have any private vehicles, for them ASTC buses will ply in designated routes. Those who don’t have their own vehicles but are struck in another district of Assam were asked to call ‘104’.
