Residents of Ward No.1 in Hailakandi blocks municipal workers from cleaning work, FIR lodged

April 10: In a significant development, Executive Magistrate, Tridip Roy lodged an FIR at Hailakandi Sadar Police Station on Friday against some persons of Ward No.1 under Hailakandi Municipal Board for blocking the municipal workers from carrying the cleaning work at Ajachukpally fearing that they might be infected with the virus. It is also stated in the FIR that some people jumped home quarantine and blocked the road. Despite pleas by the Executive Magistrate, they did not budge an inch forcing Roy to file an FIR against them. The Executive Magistrate asked the police to take necessary action under Section 188 IPC and other sections of IPC under the Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.
