District administration to start sale of vegetables by mobile van in Karimganj town
March 29: In the backdrop of the 21-day national lockdown as a result of the outbreak of coronavirus, Karimganj district administration has adopted a unique step to ease the difficulties of the people and thereby help them to stay inside their homes. In this connection, a meeting was held on 27 March, 2020. On the basis of that meeting, District Magistrate of Karimganj issued a notification on 29 March, where he stated that a committee was formed by District Administration to monitor sale of green vegetables by mobile van within area of Karimganj town.
The 3-member monitoring committee comprises of Anjana Roy, Chairperson of Karimganj Municipality Board (KMB), Jishu Krishna Roy, Vice Chairman of KMB and Partha Sarathi Das, Ward Commissioner, Ward No.20. The order issued by the District Magistrate, Karimganj further stated that the Committee shall function in consultation with the Deputy Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Karimganj.
Apart from this, the District Magistrate also mentioned some guidelines which needs to be observed during sale of vegetables by mobile van:
- Rate chart of green vegetables shall be displayed in the mobile van in Bengali language.
- Proper sanitisation of the mobile van should be ensured
- At the time of sale of vegetables, respective ward commissioners are to keep vigil for smooth selling and ensure that social distancing of minimum 1 meter is observed.
- The time for selling vegetables should be between 9 AM to 4 PM.
